San Clemente, Calif. – For the past two years, Consolidated Contracting Services’ (CCSI) principal, Tony Elias-Calles, and his son, Matt Elias-Calles, a project engineer for the company, have participated in the Junior Seau Foundation Adaptive Surf Program, presented by the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF). Through this program, the father and son team have been able to help kids with physical challenges learn how to surf through a series of surf camps and instructional clinics.

As a former professional surfer, Matt enjoys sharing the excitement of surfing he experienced from his childhood and throughout his adolescence with these young, determined athletes.

He said, “Allowing the kids to experience something they normally wouldn’t be able to—is awesome. The smiles and excitement on the beach is just infectious. These kids have amazing attitudes and let nothing hold them back.”

Tony Elias-Calles founded his company, along with brother-in-law Joseph Troya, placing priority in “positive community involvement” and making it one of the company’s core values. CCSI supports and financially partners with nonprofit organizations such as Make-A-Wish, Samaritan’s Purse and San Ysidro Health, among others. CCSI team members are highly encouraged to volunteer and get involved with company-sponsored events, as well as in their own communities.

The Junior Seau Foundation Adaptive Surf Program is just one of the many events that the CAF holds throughout the year. For more than 25 years, CAF has been hosting all kinds of events: from triathlons and 5k walks to surf camps—and they don’t plan on stopping any time soon!  CAF’s constant support to these athletes has allowed them to change the lives of thousands across the US and give hope and inspiration to hundreds of thousands more.

Creative Manager for CAF, Jamie Goodwick said of their mission, “We want to give them the tools and resources to be the best athlete that they can be. Every kid is getting something different out of the program, and we hope that it’s joy—and we hope that’s learning—and  we hope that this sport of surfing, or any other sport they pursue would change their life.”

CCSI is proud to be founded on the core value of positive community involvement—and proud of our owner and our project engineer to have fully embraced this value—making a difference in these challenged athletes’ lives, and having fun doing it!
