San Clemente, Calif.- On Thursday, Nov. 15, employees at Consolidated Contracting Services, Inc. (CCSI) joined together at the corporate office to participate in Samaritans Purse, Operation Christmas Child. The event consisted of packing 50 shoe boxes with the likes of soap, clothing, and toys. These boxes will be shipped out to children all across the world who are not fortunate enough to receive gifts on Christmas.

“Some of them are receiving gifts for the very first time,” according to Daniel Japhet, a volunteer for Samaritans Purse.

This is a big reason CCSI’s principal, Tony Elias-Calles, loves his organization’s involvement.

“You have an impact on a child that has never experienced Christmas, receiving gifts, and/or the incredible joy a gift can bring to the child as well as the family,” said Elias-Calles.

For CCSI, this marks the third year in a row the organization has taken part in this project. What keeps them coming back year after year is the idea that “so many children in the world have no hope, and a simple box gives them that hope.” (Franklin Graham, CEO, Samaritans Purse).

Elias-Calles believes that this project provides a unique opportunity that many others do not.

“What tops it for me is the fact that this one simple gift will not only affect them in this life but potentially for eternity as well,” he said.

In addition to the toys, CCSI purchased shipping labels that allow the boxes to be tracked all the way to their final destination. Finally, hand written letters were included in each shoe box to create a unique connection with every child that receives a shoe box.

According to Samaritans Purse, the last 25 years of Operation Christmas Child have resulted in the delivery of 157 million shoe boxes to boys and girls around the world.

CCSI is excited and looking forward to continuing this tradition in 2019.
