San Clemente, Calif. - Employees at Consolidated Contracting Services, Inc. (CCSI) took part in a food drive throughout November and December for Family Assistance Ministries (FAM) to combat hunger and help families in need during the holiday season. More than 700 pounds of food was collected.

“When you come to serve at FAM, you’re going to find a lot different stories, a lot of different people, and a lot of different opportunities to help serve your community of people who are in need,” said Mary Perdue, FAM Ministries Executive Director, San Clemente.

For CCSI’s administrative assistant, Mary Kauffman, this particular opportunity is more than just a blessing to the families in need.

“I had circumstances in my past that led me to seek help at food banks, so to be able to give back blesses my heart tremendously,” said Kauffman.

However, she was not the only one inspired to make a difference this year.

Employee participation reached an all-time high, tipping the scales at 99 percent. This marks the second event of the holiday season at CCSI, as only a few weeks before, the organization spent a day creating Christmas gifts for children around the world.

Family Assistance Ministries continues to change lives, and in this year alone provided over 1.5 million meals to hungry people, as well as $3.5 million food and personal care items. It would not be possible without the efforts of FAM’s 1,500-plus volunteers.

There truly is nothing like the gift of giving.

Kauffman described the feeling as being “truly grateful.” She has big plans for the future claiming, “I would like to have a quarterly food drive because people are hungry year round.”
